My name is Matthew Candler (not “Chandler“, though I love his preaching!). I live in Kansas City with my wife Dana, our four kids, and uninvited yard moles. Since I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Physical Therapy, I took a sharp right turn into full time ministry as an intercessory missionary at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City (IHOP-KC).
Over the years at IHOP-KC. I have done a little bit of everything, from managing the bookstore, leading the internships, repenting, overseeing the prayer room, leading the music school, more repenting, teaching at IHOPU, even naming our coffee shop. I am a section leader in the prayer room serving to strengthen the worship teams and steward participation in corporate intercessory worship.
This is one of my personal blogs which targets a keen passion of mine, the book of Psalms, also called the Psalter. I didn’t always like the Psalms, they really bothered me actually. I liked a few “phrases” in the psalms but was so confused how those phrases fit together with all the ones that made no sense to me. Maybe you can relate.
The mission of this blog is to help you see the Psalms more clearly and sing them more passionately. My goal is create insightful, relevant content that you can implement in this pilgrimage, that it would be one of praise.
The resources are targeted for all, but may at times prove to be particularly helpful for songwriters, worship leaders, singers, and musicians. If you are a person who loves the Psalms and the worship of Jesus-or aspire to be-this blog is for you.
